I Love My Love

Program Notes

One of the numerous folk-song arrangements by Holst for choir, I Love My Love tells the story of two lovers separated and reunited.  Through the use of text painting, the emotions of the text are reflected in the textures and harmonies of the music.  Faithful to Holst’s version, many different voices carry the main melody of this Cornish folk song, with the Bass C and Soprano C having prominent solos.
